Oh, the glorious placenta. Or, as the veinous pattern on it is commonly referred, the tree of life. This amazing organ is what delivers all of the babies nutrients, blood and oxygen. Some parents decide to have the placenta encapsulated after birth, for numerous benefits.
Placenta encapsulation has been reported to support more stable moods, higher energy levels, as well as increased milk supply in the postpartum period.
Shortly after the birth of your baby, your placenta would be taken to my dedicated space for placenta processing (I am trained in the TCM method), and returned to you- encapsulated- within 72 hours. A placental tincture is included as well.
Placenta Encapsulation FAQs
What are some of the benefits of placenta encapsulation?
Mood stability, higher energy levels, increased milk supply, and quicker recovery are all benefits that have been reported by mothers who choose placenta encapsulation.
Are there situations where encapsulation isn’t advised?
Placenta encapsulation would not be recommended if there are signs of infection during labor or shortly after birth in either the birthing mother or the baby.
Is placenta encapsulation safe?
The safety of placenta encapsulation depends on proper handling and preparation. I am trained in the Traditional Chinese Medicine method, which includes steaming, dehydrating, and encapsulating the placenta.
Can I encapsulate the placenta if I’m having twins or multiples?
Of course! With twins or multiples, you’ll likely receive about twice the typical number of capsules, depending on the size of the placenta(s).
Can placenta encapsulation be done after a cesarean birth?
Yes, absolutely. As a part of your birth team, I can help ensure your placenta is collected and stored safely after surgery so it can be properly prepared.
How many capsules will I receive?
The number of capsules varies depending on the size of the placenta, but most mothers receive somewhere between 100 and 200 capsules.
